Medallions

What is a Collypto Medallion?

Collypto Medallions serve as a pseudonymous, on-chain proof of identity for our users who have completed our KYC process. After identity verification, users will be able to select a single Ethereum account that we will refer to as their “medallion”. No personal information will ever be a part of a user’s public medallion information. It is akin to the way that the blockchain allows a user to prove that they own a private key without sharing it.

Users may have multiple accounts with which they transact CPTO, but only one account may be designated as their medallion account. While a medallion will not be required for all Collypto transactions, The Collypto Medallion system is the cornerstone of our extended contract functionality and our suite of enhanced consumer protections, including recourse for theft and accidents.

Medallions fall into two categories: “Personal”, and “Institutional”. This allows us to customize our enhanced consumer protections as appropriate for each user type. While only “Personal” medallions will be issued during the crowdfund campaign, they will carry a special “Founder” designation that will only ever be available to crowdfund participants. Medallions are available exclusively through Collypto Technologies.
